Description
For geranium oil, we must distill the leaves of geranium.
In Reunion, the steam distillation is made traditionally in small copper stills (and now stainless steel).
In a tank of about 800 liters, is pressed to 3 400 kg of leaves above a rack disposed above the water 250 at the bottom of the tank.
Below it, a fire is maintained with acacia branches. When the water boils, the steam bursts the glandular hairs of the leaves and causes the volatile essential oils in a gooseneck.
The vapors then descend through a coil placed in a cold water tank and condense.
The separation of the essential oil of the free water is simply in a Florentine vessel, wherein the lighter oil, surface mounted, flows outside. A "cooked" longer than three hours.
Analysis of the laboratory
You will find thereafter, the detailed analysis of a sample of Geranium bourbon essential oil made by an independant laboratory. There might be some variations depending on the productions, nevertheless we always keep an excellent quality level.
