Description

Niaouli essential oil is obtained from the fresh leaves by steam distillation of water for one to two hours, with an average yield of 0.7%.

 

Oil, yellow to light green, has a density of about 0.85. It has a strong smell, sweet-camphor, reminiscent of eucalyptus oil and cardamom, but with a spicy character.

 

The major essential oil-producing countries are currently niaouli Australia, Madagascar and New Caledonia.
